1.Arimbra Hills:

Arimbra Hills or Mini Ooty is a tourist spot between Malappuram and Kondotty in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is at a height of 475 meter above sea level. The place attracts large number of visitors for its rolling hills and scenic views. The location got the nickname as it resembles Ooty, one of the famous hill stations in India. There are many stone crushers and plantations atop the hill. There is an old Harijan Colony on the western side of the hill.[1] Apart from the Western Ghats, Kerala has five major independent mountains. Of these, three are in Malappuram district, one in Palakkad and one in Kannur. The largest of these five mountains is the Cheriyam mountain at Mankada in Malappuram district. This Cheriyam mountain is also known as Panthalur Hill. Cheriyam mountain is located at an elevation of 613 m(2,011 ft) above sea level. Mount Amminikkadan is the second highest mountain of this five mountains. The height of this Amminikkadan mountain is 540 meters. This Arimbra mountain in Kondotty in Malappuram district is the third highest mountain of this five mountains. The height of this Arimbra mountain is 475 meters.

It can be reached by 4 km distance from Aravankara near Pookkottoor located in Malappuram - Calicut stretch of NH966. 11 km from Karathode located in Malappuram-Parappanangadi road (SH 72). There are several other minor roads that connects to the region from Pookotur, Mongam, Morayur, Musliyarangadi, Kottukara, Thottassery near Kondotty etc. An alternative route is available from Poolappis Junction near Oorakam on SH 72. Those who are coming from Calicut can access the hills from Colony road near Kondotty..



2.Nilambur Teak Museum:

Teak Museum is located 4 km from Nilambur, a town in the Malappuram district of Kerala, South India. Teak occurs naturally in India with the main teak forests found in Kerala. In the old administrative records of the Madras Presidency, it is recorded that the most remarkable plantation owned by Government in the erstwhile Madras Presidency was the Teak plantation at Nilambur planted in 1844.

The museum, a two-storey building, is the world's first teak museum and is operated by the Kerala Forest Research Institute. The exhibits include comprehensive information on aspects of the use of teak in their exhibits and articles on the subject. The museum provides extensive information of value historically, artistically and scientifically.[3] The museum was established in 1995 on the campus of the centre of Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) because of the historical significance of teak to the area. The world's first teak plantation was planted in Nilambur in the 1840s by the British.


3. Kottakkunnu:

Kottakkunnu, Known as Marine Drive of Malappuram is a hill garden. Kottakkunnu park contains an Open Air theater, Lalitha Kala Academy Art gallery, a water theme park, Adventure Park, Kids traffic park, Balloon Park, 16D Cinema. There is a Water fountain and Laser show every weekend and on festivals like Eid, Onam, New year eve, etc. At Kottakkunnu one can see traces of the first fort built by the Zamorins. This tourism destination turned historic hill attracts lakhs of people per annum. This scenic table-top location is at the crest of the Cantonment Hill near the District Collectorate in the heart of Malappuram city and 51 km from Kozhikode, 12 km from Kottakkal, 25 km from Calicut International Airport, 17 km from Angadipuram railway station and 29 km from Tirur railway station. Visitors are allowed up to 9pm.[clarification needed] KSRTC Bus station located adjacent at Up Hill is the nearest bus station.

Kottakkunnu, being one of the high-earning tourism destinations in the state in the form of tickets, the Tourism department has planned to make this a one-stop destination with a variety of entertainment. In 2015, the tourism minister inaugurated the Kottakkunnu Master plan of 100cr worth projects. Some of the components under the master plan have opened and many are underway.


4. Kumaragiri Farm & Nature Camp:

Farm camp Kumaragiri estates is a family held rubber plantation in Kerala.Visitors can enjoy the beauty of Kerala by staying in this plantation itself since travelling in Kerala during the monsoon is a terrible experience.The estates are open to visitors only during Monsoon months starting June till December.The visitors can enjoy kerala cuisine and the greenery of hills by staying in this 1500 acre farm. There is small forest stretch within the plantation and the night treks are worth experiencing.

Coconuts and other spices are also grown along with coffee and cardamom on top of the hills going up to 1200 feet above msl. A visitor to the camp can use the natural pool and experience the agricultural practices and just relax in luxury of nature.A trip to UNESCO heritage labelled spot- Silent Valley is an added attraction for visiting the Farmkamp at Kumaragiri Estates. Other interesting areas for visiting around the Farmkamp is the Nilambur forest division.
